Live in New York presents five live performances by This is the Kit captured at New York City's legendary Mercury Lounge during their first proper US tour in 2012. Opening with a boldly harmonized acapella holler, the release depicts the group as a powerful band operating well outside genre borders. You'll hear snatches of folk, psychedelia, world music (whatever that means) and an overall easy feeling groove—all of it marked with flashes of emotional intimacy and intensity and the kind of careful improvisations only a well-practiced band can master.
